A Minecraft server plugin that lets players customize their nicknames with standard colors, hex colors, and gradients, with PlaceholderAPI and MySQL support for multi-server networks.

About This Project
HexNicks is a Minecraft server plugin that lets players set their nickname to almost anything (solid colors, hex colors, and gradients) instead of being stuck with a handful of preset chat colors. It's built primarily for Paper servers and has been maintained as an open-source, MIT-licensed project since its first release.
Features
- Standard color, hex color, and gradient support for nicknames
- Text parsing powered by MiniMessage for flexible, modern formatting
- PlaceholderAPI integration so nicknames can be surfaced in other plugins (scoreboards, tab lists, chat plugins, etc.)
- Built-in chat formatting, so servers don't need a separate chat plugin just to display nicknames correctly
- Optional MySQL storage backend for BungeeCord/Velocity networks, so nicknames stay in sync across multiple servers
- bStats metrics integration for usage tracking
- A developer API for other plugins to read and interact with player nicknames programmatically
Platform Support
HexNicks targets modern Paper servers and is also compatible with Folia and other Paper forks.
Documentation & Community
The plugin ships with full documentation covering chat formatting, color formatting, commands, configuration, permissions, and the developer API, plus an active Discord community and GitHub Issues/Discussions for support and feature requests.
